Guided

South Texas Premier Experience

The ‘Guided’ television series featuring real outdoor people and real outdoor experiences.

‘Guided’, chronicles the lives of four, hard-working Texans who give it their all, to make each new client’s dream come true. With mud on their boots and calluses on their hands, these determined hunting guides ensure the job gets done right, no matter what the cost, for every client, every time.

Dan Braman, AKA “the secret boss” is a true prankster and man of many talents. Next up and lead guide in charge of the main Mellon Creek Outfitters management program is Hagen Watkins; who after 8 years of guiding on the MCO has too many stories to tell over one campfire. Guide Pat Harney, hailing all the way from Rhode Island, will tell it like it is, and pull one over on you before you even know what happened. Don’t forget the new guy in town, Derek Woods, who has just joined the team for his first season guiding at the ranch. With this much personality there is al-ways a snake hidden in someone’s truck, or an unshared opinion to be had. But at the end of the day they all work together to make Mellon Creek Outfitters the best it can be.

about the show

Based out of Refugio, Texas the Mellon Creek Outfitting business never stops. There’s always something that needs doing’, fixin’, or just out right taken care of. Each guide will take new and excited hunters in the field every week, helping them obtain an ultimate goal of tagging out on their desired species. With repeat business year after year, they have a great track record so far. But beware, there are a number of things that can cause these hunts to head the wrong way. Floods can cause the ranch to be impassible, droughts can lead to fires, or you could simply be bitten by a rattlesnake, have fun trying to survive that one. There ain’t one fence in sight either, meaning these animals are as wild as the country they live in. Join us and see if these four guides have what it takes to make it through a successful hunting season in one piece.

Meet Your Guides

The team that brings you the premier Texas outdoor experience.

Dan Braman

Born and raised in Refugio, Texas, he is a Texan through and through. AKA the “Secret Boss’’, clients would never know he owns the whole operation. Don’t let all his jokes fool you, he is highly educated with multiple college degrees and has a strong drive to become a better version of himself each day. Striving to be the strongest advocate of the hunting and fishing industry, along with upholding America’s second amendment rights, he is a true outdoorsman.

Hagen Watkins

Born and raised in Uvalde, Texas, he holds a degree in range and wildlife management. He was able to put that degree to good use after meeting Dan at a random Thanksgiving dinner. Eight years later he is fully guiding hunters and managing the ranch’s gun range, Bridle Iron South. He loves the fact there is no typical day-to-day routine, and looks forward to things getting even bigger and better as seasons pass.

Pat Harney

Born and raised in Glocester, Rhode Island, he has been working his way into the hunting industry after deciding a career in finance was not the right path for him. With a motto that “life’s too short to be negative,” he found himself right at home on the Mellon. After being welcomed by the team two years ago, Pat has been successful at filling his clients tags trip after trip.

Derek Woods

Raised in Fort Worth, Texas, he is determined to be successful in whatever life brings him. With a passion for hunting as strong as his love for doughnuts, Derek has decided he’s ready to be a guide. After a successful career as a camera operator for the TV series “WildLifers,” he’s gained the knowledge and experience it takes to try his hand as a guide. He joins the MCO team for the first time this year, and is ready to make his mark.

This 30 minute, 10 episode series with a behind the scenes spinoff will run the duration of the hunting season in Southern Texas, which occurs between October and January. Everything starts with the prep, where all the hard work of hot summer months begins to pay off, as excited customers begin to roll into camp. We take an inside look at what these guides have to do in order to prepare for the upcoming season. Any number of things could have taken place to thwart the new season from being successful. Sometimes they are faced with major challenges in weather, causing them to change their whole strategy. Other times the deer they have been managing seem to disappear. What they do about these setbacks and how they overcome them will be a true glimpse into the grind these four guides put in day and night.
